Family sessions are a great way to mark and commemorate specific moments and time periods within your lives. Nothing ever stays completely the same; children grow, families move, new additions arrive, whatever it may be, things change, and updating your family photos every few years is a great way to forever celebrate a specific moment in time. Jackie, Josh, and their two young ones wanted to capture this particular moment of time while their family lived just behind Rose Bridge Farm in Ambler, Pennsylvania. Being relatively new to the area after moving here from Louisiana, and with the kids starting at their first-ever school in Pennsylvania, they knew just how important it was to document their temporary home in Ambler.
We started this family photo session off in their backyard, which extended into a dirt path past a flower field and led us behind one of the cutest little animal farms in the area, the Rose Bridge Farm. The kids were absolute naturals in front of the camera and were quick to show their playful and loving personalities. They were immediately jumping up and down, playing with one another, and just being their authentic selves while I snapped photos of them as we journeyed from the backyard towards the farm. Every little kid would love growing up this close to a working farm, with all the space to free roam and play, and to be able to regularly watch the animals. Once we made it deeper into the woods, we started capturing some beautifully authentic and natural family photos of the four of them. At the same time, they enjoyed being present with one another in the unique beauty their Ambler “backyard” had to offer.
My hope is that Jackie and Josh will forever treasure the moments we captured that afternoon, even though the house, yard, and farm were only home to them very briefly. This was a chapter of their lives, and as any of you with children may know, these chapters and moments with our kids are so brief before they start to inevitably grow up and become different versions of themselves. It’s so important to stop and make a point to document your family once in a while, at various stages, because your family today will look and be very different in just a few short years. This session was a marker in time for them that I was grateful to have been a part of.
