Carolina and Charles eloped in Philadelphia’s Fairmount park in the fall. They live in Canada but Charles was in Philadelphia completing a doctoral program so when it was time to get married Carolina came down for the weekend to say their vows in front of an officiant, me and the trees. Just four people involved. I even served as the witness…..ya know, to make it official. We met up in the park, picked the nearest pretty spot and the officiant performed the service. After rings and vows were exchanged and tears flowed, Carolina and Charles were married. We then walked the park taking photos on the crisp fall afternoon before we all hopped into my car and I dropped them off at their hotel in Center City. I was involved in their lives very briefly. It was just a couple of hours on one afternoon. But I’m sure that Carolina and Charles will remember our time together for the rest of their lives. I doubt I will play much of a part in that memory….at least I shouldn’t. But they will always have these beautiful photos of that one afternoon that they spent walking in Fairmount Park with a stranger. It was after all, their wedding day.
