Choosing the perfect time to take your engagement photos may seem like a daunting task, but it honestly just depends on the vibe you want from your photos. Your engagement session doesn’t have to be in the midst of a hot summer, just to get a picture-perfect session. Choosing to do your engagement session in the winter definitely isn’t as common, but it doesn’t make it the wrong choice!
Kate and Scott chose to do their Philadelphia engagement session on a chilly February afternoon in the historical Old City neighborhood. Kate and Scott went about their winter engagement session in the best way possible, by fully embracing the season! They bundled up in their comfy, cozy winter attire and explored various historical sites throughout Old City, such as the iconic Independence Hall. Two major perks of choosing to do your engagement photo session in the winter are that you experience fewer crowds, and you have an early start and end time. Especially in a major city like Philadelphia, these two factors can be considered game changers. For Kate and Scott’s engagement session, we were able to walk throughout Old City, taking our time and embracing the winter feeling, whereas in the summer, we’d constantly be trying to work around crowds of tourists and locals visiting these historical and iconic locations. And since we usually work your session time around sunset, you still will have ample time to enjoy a dinner or other local activities in the city!
Philadelphia in itself is a very unique city to have your engagement session take place. It’s a city rich with history and culture, which really allows you the mobility to have historical backdrops for your engagement photos that a lot of other cities can’t offer you (unless, of course, we’re talking about Boston). These unique locations, combined with the romantic winter lighting, create an absolutely timeless feeling to your engagement photos that is unbeatable.
I can’t wait to catch up with Kate and Scott at their romantic fall seaside wedding at Willow Creek Winery next year!
