Katie & Taylor’s elegant fall wedding at one of New Jersey’s newest and most glamorous wedding venues, The Tilling House took place late in October on a quintessential autumn afternoon. It was sunny, a bit breezy and it actually kinda felt like fall after a rather warm and dry September and October. We started with Katie & Taylor early in the afternoon as they both got dressed and ready at home, Taylor at their house and Katie at her parents’ home just about five minutes down the road. One of my favorite parts of any wedding day, especially when a bride gets ready at the hose she grew up in is finding the little moments when a bride and/or her parents are just themselves at their home even though it’s a very large and important day. There were a few moments like this with Katie and her parents. One, Katie’s dad checking the fridge for a snack while in his tux, Katie putting her gloves on in the den as a framed photo of her as a teenager hangs on the wall above her and again with Katie’s parents as they spontaneously started dancing together to (I think it was) ABBA. It’s little moments like these that I love being able to capture for our couples and, I think it’s photos of these small moments that Katie and Taylor will cherish above many others in five, ten and twenty years.
After a short trolley ride to the The Tilling House the guys had some time to play some pool and relax before the ceremony. As the sun started to set, guest arrived and we sat for the ceremony just outside of the main ballroom. It was a secluded and beautiful setting for the wedding ceremony that was officiated by one of Katie and Taylor’s closest friends. Soon after the ceremony ended, The Tilling House staff escorted Katie, Taylor and the wedding party to golf carts so we could whip our way down to the course to catch the last of the incredible sunset light. And we made excellent use of our time, if I do say so myself. Katie & Taylor’s portraits on the golf course as the sun set are some of our favorites of the year!
After the cocktail hour on the patio and the green where the ceremony was held, guests were invited into the gorgeous Tilling House Ballroom. This space was incredible and perfect for the type of party Katie & Taylor threw for all of their friends and family! And of course the dance party that followed dinner was one for the ages. There was a limbo, double dutch, bridesmaid provided tambourines, an impromptu hora of sorts and more. It was a scene and Katie & Taylor were leading the charge until the very last note from the band played. What a memorable day it was! Thank you guys for inviting us into your world for the day. We enjoyed every moment of it all and I hope you love all of your photos. All of our best to you both for a wonderful, long and happy marriage.
