Cari & Andrew’s Cescaphe Ballroom wedding took place on a rather rainy spring day. Luckily the weather worked in our favor and the clouds parted immediately after the ceremony at St. Augustine’s in Philadelphia. Getting to the church early in the day however proved to be a bit of a challenge as the rain kind of slowed the entire city down. But these types of issues pop up all the time. It’s best to handle them the way that Cari did. She just accepted whatever was coming at her that was out of her control and let us do the “worrying” for her. We knew that no matter what happened we were prepared. Cari & Andrew would have a stress free wedding…..AND we would work together to make some gorgeous memories of their day. And like I said, the weather worked out in our favor in the end anyway! As a couple, one of the most important traits to look for in your wedding photographer is how well they can handle the occasional curve ball. A seasoned wedding photographer has seen it all and has backup plans upon backup plans. We have been around the block a few times and a little rain, broken down trolley, locked monument gate etc. doesn’t throw us. It’s all a real part of your day and we always incorporate what the day throws at us into the documentation of a wedding day. Sometimes that day goes absolutely, perfectly as planned. But most often it doesn’t. And when certain things arise during the day that may not have been anticipated it is important that you have the people in your corner that can not only roll with the punches but can also not break a sweat while doing it. We’ve seen it all and worked with it all. Rain in the morning? No big deal. We’ll make it work.

Cari and her siblings grew up in the same neighborhood as I did. I’ve known Cari her whole life and I even can remember the day that she was born. I feel old now. So when Cari & Andrew contacted us about doing the photo and video for their wedding I was extremely honored. It’s always an honor to be asked to document a couple’s wedding day. There is a lot of trust in that relationship. And to have a family that I have known basically all of my life put that level of trust in us was very special. Showing up the morning of the wedding it was like a reunion. Cari’s family was all there and lots of hugs and memories were exchanged as we started the day. As I said above, it rained early on and we did some of the portraits in the hotel before the ceremony. But as soon as Cari & Andrew were married and the wedding party hopped on the trolley to Cescaphe the sun came out and we were able to take some beautiful portraits of the bride and groom around Northern Liberties. A wedding reception at Cescaphe Ballroom is like no other. The spread during the cocktail hour alone is unbelievable. One of our favorite wedding bands, Jellyroll had the dance floor packed all night long, that is until The Mummers showed up and whipped the party into an umbrella strutting frenzy. Cari & Andrew, it was truly our pleasure. All the best to you and your families. Thank you for having us!
