Megan & Zak’s Franklin Institute wedding took place just about two weeks ago. If you grew up in the Philadelphia area anytime in the last 40 years or so you most likely have very fond memories of time spent with family or on field trips to The Franklin Institute in Center City. I can vividly remember, from my childhood in the early 80s, the unique smell inside the giant walk through heart and having electricity sent through my body, spinning around in circles while holding a bicycle wheel etc. etc. Tom and I were a bit overly excited to photograph Megan & Zak’s wedding in one of our most cherished childhood hangouts. Megan and Zak shared the same nostalgia for this unique wedding venue as we did. They really wanted to capture photos inside the museum itself and so we spent our time photographing in the exhibits during normal operating hours and it was incredible! Sure, Megan’s dress was stepped on a handful of times by excited 6 year olds. But that was to be expected when enjoying time inside this interactive and energetic museum. The ceremony in the planetarium under the full moon was impressive and the party in Franklin Hall headed by Steve Croce of Silver Sound was full of joy and crazy dance moves including several “Dirty Dancing” style lifts that almost actually worked! Thank you to the ladies of Seeds of Celebration Planning as well as Gina from the Franklin Institute for coordinating the day and for getting us in and out of the exhibits all while they were in use and being occupied with museum goers. Congratulations Megan & Zak. You guys had the best day. Thank you for including us in it all.
