Rachel & Kevin’s Franklin Institute wedding started off with rain. We were all monitoring the weather and giving each other updates every 5 minutes or so. I remember looking out the window of The Ritz Carlton where Rachel was getting ready for the wedding day, and trying to see how many people on the street below had umbrellas and if I could actually see rain hitting the street etc. Rain is of course something that can happen on your wedding day. But we always stress to our couples that rain will on no way ruin your wedding plans…unless YOU let it. Part of our job on yoru wedding day is to manage as much of your stress as we can about the flow of the day and where and when certain moments should be happening etc. Rain is sometimes unavoidable but we are used to dealing with it and still creating beautiful wedding photos with you all while keeping you dry and your dress pristine. Well on Rachel & Kevin’s wedding day the rain did stop just before we left the Ritz for their first look. They did have a very sweet and emotional first look in the courtyard of City Hall. We stuck around City Hall and Dilworth Park for a bit to do some wedding portraits before making our way to Logan Circle to meet up with the wedding party and continue photographing Rachel, Kevin and their best friends and family. The Franklin Institute is only a short walk from Logan Circle so once we finished up photos by the fountain we all walked the two blocks or so to the steps of The Franklin Institute where we would spend the rest of the evening.
The ceremony in the planetarium of The Franklin Institute is one of a kind. How many places in Philadelphia can you get married under a full moon? Rachel & Kevin both prepared and read hand written vows to each other which had many of their guests wiping tears away. Guests were invited into the museum exhibit area for cocktails and then into the Franklin Ballroom for the wedding reception. The Franklin Ballroom has got to be one of the most impressive wedding reception locations, not only in Philadelphia, but in the entire country. It’s just such a grand space and every time we are there we get to watch guest reactions and see the expression of awe on their faces as they enter this ballroom for the first time. Rachel & Kevin, our team had the best day with you and your families. Thank you so much for choosing us to share in your day.
