An Elegant Cairnwood Estate Wedding in Bryn Athyn, PA

Bianca and Matt’s elegant Cairnwood Estate wedding day in Bryn Athyn started on a beautiful, crisp fall morning in November. Both the bride and groom individually got ready on the luxurious estate, with Bianca in the gorgeous 19th-century bridal suite, and Matt getting ready in the groom’s suite and the library. Over the years, Cairnwood’s 19th-century bridal suite has become one of our personal favorites within the Philadelphia area. One of its best features is the beautiful amounts of natural light it lets in, which perfectly complements the original decor of the Pitcairn family, who resided in the estate from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This bridal getting-ready suite is the epitome of an elegant, formal dressing setting, which allows for beautiful, timeless wedding portraits. Both of the getting-ready spaces used for Bianca and Matt’s wedding day have that perfect look of refinement and elegance, making it a perfect starting point for a day filled with timeless wedding day portraits.

Once everyone was dressed and ready to go, Bianca did a joyful first look with her bridesmaids. All of her dearest friends screamed in astonishment and were nearly breathless upon seeing Bianca in all of her bridal glory for the first time. From there, we had one last big moment to conduct before heading to the church for the happy couple’s wedding ceremony – a first look with Bianca’s grandfather. Bianca headed downstairs to meet her grandfather in a memorable first-look, before everyone gathered in the white stretch limo to head to the Immaculate Conception Church in Jenkintown. Matt was teary-eyed as he watched his bride-to-be enter the church and proceed down the aisle at their traditional Catholic wedding mass. Once the ceremony concluded, we captured a few traditional family-formals along the altar before heading back to Cainwood Estate for cocktail hour.

As the cocktail hour started in the library of Cairnwood, we captured some wedding day portraits of Bianca and Matt with their entire wedding party, as well as some beautifully elegant portraits of just the two of them in and around the Bryn Athyn estate, before joining all of their guests for the remainder of the cocktail hour festivities.

As cocktail hour concluded, Bianca, Matt, and their wedding party snuck away upstairs to be formally introduced as they descended the grand staircase into the Great Hall of Cairnwood Estate to kick off the reception. The newlyweds were greeted with cheers and applause, as they immediately launched into their romantic first dance as husband and wife. Matt punctuated the end of their first dance by lifting Bianca into the air, catching everyone by surprise (including Bianca!) This was definitely our favorite spontaneous moment of the entire wedding day, which thankfully Ben, on our photography team, perfectly captured the complete shock and excitement on Bianca’s face! This grand-finale was definitely the perfect way to set the tone and energy of the incredible reception to follow.

Dinner took place on the terrace, under the heated tent, completed with toasts and a very special and emotional recognition of the bride’s parents, who would be moving back to the Philippines shortly after the wedding day. Once dinner, all of the special wedding day toasts, and the cake cutting finished, it was officially time to get the party started.

Throughout the night, Bianca and Matt’s friends and family continuously surrounded them on the dance floor as the music kept playing into the night. Everyone was filled with laughter and joyous celebrations all night long, and it made for such a special and fun environment to photograph.
