Jersey Shore Family Photos in Strathmere NJ | Extended Family Beach Session

A group of eight people, including children, and two dogs stand together smiling on a beach with ocean waves in the background, capturing classic Jersey Shore Family Photos.

We absolutely love not only connecting with fellow wedding industry professionals but also getting to know and collaborating with them! I have known Erin for many years, as she and her team at Proud to Plan have worked on many, many weddings that we have been a part of. She is one of our favorite wedding and event coordinators in the Philadelphia wedding industry, so much so that she was actually our wedding coordinator for our own special wedding day! Erin and I have always gotten along so well, and not only work really well together, but also can easily laugh and enjoy each other’s company. So when she and her husband invited me to her family’s shore house in Strathmere, New Jersey, for an evening to take extended family photos on the beach and by the bay, there wasn’t even a question about it! Having a well-known, respected, and trusted wedding industry professional ask me, out of all of the photographers that she’s worked with, to photograph her family was truly the biggest of honors.

I met up with Erin, her husband, her parents, and her brother’s family (and of course, the two dogs) at the family’s beautiful bayside shore home in Strathmere before heading down to the beach to start the extended family photo session. The summer evening was warm and pleasant; it truly was the perfect night to take the family down onto the sandy shores to capture everyone in their vacation bliss. It wasn’t too windy or humid; it was just the right temperature and picturesque golden-beach lighting to make for some beautiful family photos. It also made the photo session on the beach really enjoyable for everyone, from the grandparents to the kids, and even the dogs; truly just one of the most relaxing nights by the New Jersey shoreline.

I always love being able to capture authentic moments and natural-looking photos of grandparents interacting and laughing together with their kids and grandkids. And of course, Erin’s parents delivered on that front right off the bat. Unsurprisingly, they are just as easy to laugh with and be around as Erin is, so it was quite easy to photograph them embracing their loved ones and each other. Erin’s parents are truly an adorable couple, even after all these years, they were acting like a newly engaged couple! After doing a bunch of group photos and small individual family photos on the beach, we headed back up to the house for a few more sunset photos to end the incredible beach session.

Erin’s brother and his boys took the motorboat out for a quick, sunset cruise along the bay before coming back in to meet up with the rest of the family just after the sun went down. Erin whipped out some impromptu sparklers (no doubt from her wedding and events stash) for the kids to enjoy with their mom and grandmother.

If I’m being honest, this is one of my favorite sessions of all time. It was just so incredibly relaxing and filled with so much laughter and love, exactly the way I always hope all of these extended family photo sessions go. Plus, between the gorgeous summer weather and an incredible New Jersey sunset over the bay, it’s not a bad way to end a summer evening!
