Kristin and Andrew’s Cape May summer wedding at Montreal Beach Resort was the epitome of relaxation and ultimate beach aesthetics. Between the romantic waterfront ceremony, the perfect summer breeze, and the perfect pink sunset; the Cape May wedding day couldn’t have been more perfect! In addition to photographing the romantic beach wedding day, we also captured the essence of the day on Super-8 film! Both Kristin and Andrew got ready separately at the wedding venue on Beach Avenue in Cape May, New Jersey, before heading to the sandy beach for their first look, photographed by Caroline.

The intimate first look between the bride and groom took place across the street from the resort, along the sandy shoreline. Kristin and Andrew were just so ecstatic to see each other and for the celebration to come, making their first look and their portrait session super cute and lovely.

The overwhelming theme of the day was complete relaxation and go-with-the-flow. Following the couple’s beach portrait session, a small gathering of their wedding guests made their way to the beach, where their ceremony had been set up behind the rest of the public beachgoers. It was honestly cool and unique for an outdoor ceremony to feel so casual. There was no private section of the beach, or staff keeping public onlookers away; they just had chairs set up and didn’t care at all that there were strangers watching the biggest moment of their lives unfold. Kristin and Andrew even ran into an old friend who just happened to be visiting the beach that afternoon, who later just plopped her beach chair in the last row of ceremony chairs to watch the wedding herself!
Andrew stood at the top of the wedding aisle with the officiant, watching Kristin’s 18-month-old niece confidently walk down the aisle with a bouquet. The flower girl was, in fact, so confident that she didn’t throw any petals; she just walked straight towards the groom and handed the bouquet straight to him! Kristin then proceeded down the sandy aisle, accompanied by both of her parents. Kristin and Andrew exchanged vows, and after their first kiss as husband and wife, an eruption of hoots and hollering from the beach crowd started, making the day even more special.

From there, it was time to head to The Montreal Beach Resort’s rooftop for cocktails and appetizers. Naturally, we had to fight off some seagulls trying to rob us of our snacks, as one would expect when dining al fresco down by the New Jersey shore. But honestly, it wasn’t even a concern; everyone was just over the moon to be celebrating Kristin and Andrew! It was a beautiful, warm July night, with an incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean. The newlyweds had their first dance to “Budapest” by George Ezra, followed by an incredibly heartwarming and funny toast by the bride’s sisters. The couple chose to have their parent dances together, creating a very intimate and emotional space. The atmosphere allowed wedding guests to really feel as if they themselves were a part of the intimacy of the day.

As the sun set, and the summer sky turned into a gorgeous ombre of pink and blue, Caroline took the newlyweds to the edge of the water for some more stunning wedding portraits. It was an incredibly sweet moment, as Kristin and Andeew read private notes to one another as they stood along the water’s edge, really emphasizing the intimacy and relaxation of the incredible wedding celebration in one of our favorite New Jersey beach towns. Congratulations, Kristin & Andrew. Thank you for inviting us to share in your wedding day.
