A Romantic Backyard Wedding in Morristown, NJ | Stephanie & Rich

A bride in a white dress and a groom in a white jacket stand together on a garden path, surrounded by greenery and flowers during their romantic backyard wedding in NJ on a sunny day.

Stephanie and Rich’s romantic New Jersey backyard wedding at their Morristown home was definitely an elevated and elegant event. This was no regular backyard wedding; with the help of Maria from The Hip Event, Stephanie and Rich were able to truly transform their own property into an amazing wedding venue oasis for the weekend. It was completely stunning and definitely took each of the guest’s breath away. When our team arrived at the New Jersey home, we were greeted with a buzz of activity surrounding us as caterers were busy setting up the monumental ice sculpture, and the coordinator was getting the ceremony site prepped and ready to go for the big day. It honestly felt like a scene from a movie, which is definitely the perfect way to describe Stephanie and Rich’s romantic wedding day – straight out of a movie!

Through the detailed planning of Maria from The Hip Event, the romantic summer day, surrounded by 270 wedding guests, was very modern, hip, and the complete embodiment of Stephanie and Rich as individuals. Despite it being a tremendously hot afternoon, it felt as though the weather didn’t even matter; everyone was just so thrilled to be celebrating the happy couple throughout their entire summer wedding day.

The bride and groom opted out of a traditional wedding party and instead spent the afternoon getting ready alongside their close family members. Rich prepared for the day by getting dressed in his incredibly chic white tuxedo and spent some time with his adult children, while Stephanie got dressed and ready alongside her sister. Despite the buzz of wedding vendors running around the property, ensuring all of the final touches were ready for the day to commence, Stephanie was very relaxed and calm as she got ready inside. She put on the final touches of her makeup, got into her wedding dress, and was just ready and excited to get the day started.

As guests started to arrive at the Morristown home, they were led to walk down the driveway towards the outdoor wedding ceremony site, which was located on the side lawn of the house. The Passaic County Pipes and Drums group was on-site to perform as the guests began to locate their seats, while Rich’s brother stood at the top of the wedding aisle, greeting the hundreds of family and friends who arrived. The ceremony was short but sweet and had a multitude of emotional touches throughout. As soon as the newlyweds kissed, the crowd erupted into applause, and continued as Stephanie and Rich walked hand-in-hand down the aisle during their exit.

Following the outdoor ceremony, we snuck Stephanie and Rich away for a brief wedding portrait session, which of course had to include one of the couple’s vintage, classic cars, before they were ready to head towards the pool for cocktail hour, where champagne, lobsters, and sushi awaited them. Then, it was officially time for all of the glitz and glamour of this romantic summer wedding day to be on full display. Guests headed toward the immense Sperry tent to view the incredible reception for the first time. Upon initial reaction, all jaws were on the floor, as they viewed the impeccable design and over-the-top floral displays that were completely out of this world. As the band announced Stephanie and Rich as husband and wife for the first time, they were greeted with a roar of cheers and applause from the 270 wedding guests, gleefully looking on as they jumped right into their first dance.

Following the couple’s first dance, the reception officially began with a welcome speech from the father of the bride, before dinner was quickly underway. The newlyweds had the opportunity to mingle and greet their guests throughout the early evening of the reception, as multiple courses were served in between various dance sets. It was pretty free-flowing with wedding guests just wanting to enjoy and experience everything the night had to offer. Stephanie’s sister and Rich’s son gave beautifully heartwarming toasts and expressed to the crowd just how happy they were for the couple and the life they have built with one another. Then, once all the dinner courses were over and the sun had set, the real party kicked off. Stephanie re-emerged into the white-tented wedding reception in a white, sequin reception bridal dress, which was the signal to everyone that it was definitely time to dance! The 14-piece wedding band spent the night playing everyone’s favorite songs, which kept the dance floor completely packed until the very last song of the night. It was truly an incredible and glamorous backyard wedding day. We have never seen such an impressive custom backyard wedding before, and we felt incredibly lucky to have been asked to capture it all!
